City of Sarasota, FL: Residents are invited to attend a public meeting regarding a proposal to extend the School Avenue Greenway. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 at the SRQ Media Studio in the City Hall Annex, 1565 1st St.
Extending the School Avenue Greenway would allow pedestrians and cyclists an alternative, safer route parallel to U.S. 41 and allow easier access to Arlington Park, Sarasota High School, and other local destinations. The School Avenue Greenway Extension project is identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan as well as Sarasota in Motion, the City’s Transportation Master Plan.
During the public meeting, Transportation Planning staff will give a presentation showcasing concepts, developed based on community feedback, for the direction of the project. Following this presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to view project boards with additional details on each of the three concepts, including a “do nothing” option.
Concepts were formulated as a result of public engagement and community feedback received via an online survey and during the project’s first community meeting held in November 2024. While viewing project boards, participants will have the chance to discuss each concept and their questions, comments, and concerns with City staff.
