Sarasota Police investigating a homicide that occurred last night on Ringling Blvd

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department have charged 41-year-old Djalma Johan Gordon (B/M 10/21/83) of Sarasota with the overnight murder of a woman in the 2200 block of Ringling Boulevard. Gordon was contacted during a traffic stop in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, at approximately 1:05 a.m. (C.S.T.) by an officer with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
News Release: SPD Investigating a Homicide
Detectives of the Sarasota Police Department are currently investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday. At approximately 8pm, on February 4, 2025, Sarasota Police Patrol officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Ringling Blvd. to conduct a welfare check on the resident. After making entry into the home, the officers found the resident, an adult female, deceased.
It was determined that the woman had been the victim of homicidal violence. As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a potential person of interest in the crime. That person was subsequently located in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he is currently being detained. The police do not believe that this was a random encounter and are confident that there is no threat to the public.
