SCSO deputies arrested Jennifer Shockey, W/F, 12/16/1988, and Johnny Estes, W/M, 06/26/1983, of 4548 Beacon Drive, Sarasota, for their involvement in area burglaries.
The investigation began on Jan 5, with an initial report of a residential burglary. Two air compressors and a miter saw were stolen from the 3rd story of a vacant residence undergoing renovations. Another burglary was reported on that same day at a nearby location where a wallet, check book, and other items were stolen from a vehicle. Video from neighbors in both incidents captured a dark, long bed, four door pick-up truck in the area.
The stolen items were recovered from local pawn shops and tracked to the seller (Shockey) allowing for a search warrant. Estes and Shockey were stopped in the same pick-up truck and consented to a search which ultimately led to the recovery of additional stolen items, including other people’s IDs that were found in the truck.
Shockey was charged with dealing in stolen property and providing false information to a pawn broker. Estes was arrested for unlawfully possessing 5 or more identifications and possession of marijuana less than 20g. Additional charges are pending.
