A man wanted for firing a gun into a pregnant woman’s home in Osceola County was arrested in Charlotte County after attempting to flee.

In the early evening hours of Tuesday, December 10, deputies received a notification that a green 2016 Toyota Camry bearing FL tag CP231 was about to enter Charlotte County. The driver, David Gomez-Posso (11/14/1999), was wanted out of Osceola County for allegedly firing a gun into the home of a pregnant woman. Gomez-Posso then fled the scene, and intelligence was received that he had made statements about getting into a shootout with law enforcement if they attempted to arrest him.

Charlotte County deputies positioned themselves near the interstate to locate the vehicle as it entered our jurisdiction. Just after 6pm, the vehicle was observed on Kings Highway near Sandhill Boulevard. A deputy followed the vehicle, looking for a safe spot to conduct a stop somewhere away from the heavy traffic on the roadway. Eventually, the Camry pulled into a gas station parking lot, where the deputy activated his emergency lights and attempted to detain the driver. Instead of complying with the lawful commands, the driver reversed out of the parking space and fled back onto Kings Highway before heading southbound on I75. Deputies, along with Florida Highway Patrol, pursued the vehicle. As he attempted to exit the interstate at Tuckers Grade (mile marker 158), Gomez-Posso was unable to successfully navigate the curve due to his speed and crashed the vehicle.

“This individual is another example of someone who simply refuses to get his life together. We arrested him back in 2020 for battery, then again in 2021 for drug and firearm-related charges. That’s just here in Charlotte County… The confusing thing is why he would even think to come here after fleeing his cowardly act in Osceola; he should certainly know that CCSO always gets our suspect.”

At the crash location, FHP troopers and Charlotte County deputies ordered Gomez-Posso to exit the vehicle. The suspect complied and was taken into custody on charges from CCSO for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement with wanton disregard. He will also now face the original charges out of Osceola County.

Gomez-Posso is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
