Jury duty scam alert involving fake warrant documents hits the Suncoast

There is an emerging scam in the area where criminals pose as law enforcement officials and tell you there is a warrant for your arrest because you missed jury duty. They may even send fake documents that look like valid arrest warrants.
If you receive one of these calls, immediately hang up. Victims have been asked to pay a fine to avoid arrest and have lost thousands of dollars. The criminal will ask for payment through Bitcoin, Venmo, Cash App, or even your credit card.
Things to remember:
1. Law Enforcement and government officials will NEVER ask for you to pay for anything with Bitcoin. If you hear the word “Bitcoin,” immediately hang up.
2. Do not give out your credit card number or make any payment!
3. Do not share any personal information, such as your social security number.
