Concern grows as Brill continues to purge pro Trump members from the REC and RPOF in Sarasota County

RPOF Chair Evan Power has started a purge of MAGA Republicans. An early victim was Conni Bruni, president of the Florida Republican Assembly Chapter of Sarasota County, a pro-Trump MAGA group. Conni was removed from the REC on 9-15-24, simply for being a member of the FRA while a member of the REC. Legally it takes a two-thirds vote of the county REC members to expel someone, and that wasn’t done. But like any Democrat Evan Power doesn’t care about the law.
Now, Sarasota County members of the pro-Trump MAGA Republican Assembly have been notified they’re suspended from the RPOF/REC. Meanwhile, former Alachua County GOP Chair William Stafford Jones, who leads the state party’s Constitution and Rules Committee, and is one of Power’s major funders, funded the Democrat candidates in Manatee County’s school board Nov 2024 race.
It doesn’t matter what the party registration is of actors like Evan Powers and Stafford Jones. When they think like Democrats, act like Democrats and fund Democrats, they are Democrats and they are taking over the Republican Party in Sarasota by temporarily suspending Sarasota County FRA members—until after the December 12 election.
About 12 years ago Charles Munger, a major Republican donor living in California, decided to fund any Democrats who would register Republican and run for a legislative spot in the primary. But he never funded them in the general. This ensured the Democrats won. And within a few years, the Democrats had a supermajority in the state legislature. If the removal of MAGA Republicans continues, the same thing will happen here. Jack Brill is working with Evan Power to rid the Sarasota REC of MAGA Republicans. This was demonstrated in 2024 when Brill led the takeover of every Sarasota County pro-Trump Republican club.
Two people are running against Jack Brill for chair of the Sarasota County REC, Duff Smiley and Michelle Pozzie. If you want to end this Democrat-led purge of the Republican Party, vote for either one.
You can stay with Brill and bemoan the indoctrination of the students in the school district or the loss of Venice and Sarasota to the Democrats. But in your hearts you will know that these are the results Brill supports.
Or you can say “Enough with Republicans being purged from their own party.” Stop this insanity by voting out the one man who is executing Power’s plan and put in someone who will unify our local party. Both Michelle and Duff promise to do just that.
