CITY OF NORTH PORT, FL— North Port Parks & Recreation is excited to kick off Go Green with Parks, an inspiring, hands-on event aimed at educating and engaging the community in the importance of native ecosystems. Residents are invited to join this two-part community-based habitat restoration project, held on:

  • Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at Butler Park (6205 W. Price Blvd.)
  • Apr. 25 at 5 p.m. at Garden of the Five Senses (4299 Pan American Blvd.)

Together, we’ll plant native trees and plants, enhancing North Port’s natural landscape and supporting local biodiversity. Light refreshments will be served for all participants to enjoy.

During each session, participants will not only help with habitat restoration but will also learn about the significant role native plants play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. By reintroducing native species into our local parks, we can create resilient, sustainable habitats that benefit both people and wildlife. “Go Green with Parks” reflects North Port’s commitment to educating the community and preserving our natural environment for generations to come.

Go Green with Parks is more than an event—it’s a movement within our community to protect and restore our natural environment,” said Dillon George, North Port Parks & Recreation Supervisor and Florida Master Naturalist. “We’re excited to work alongside residents and collaborators, like The Environmental Conservancy of North Port And Surrounding Areas, to enhance our city’s green spaces and make a lasting environmental impact.”

We encourage all North Port and surrounding area residents who are passionate about nature, conservation and community involvement to come and participate. No prior experience is necessary, and tools and supplies will be provided.
