SCHOOL CALENDAR UPDATE: Sarasota County Schools, in collaboration with the district’s Calendar Committee, has made important adjustments to the 2024-25 student calendar. These changes ensure students meet required instructional minutes while minimizing disruptions to holiday breaks and staff schedules.

Key Calendar Adjustments:

– Starting October 21, all high school courses will move to a 48-minute minimum period length, if applicable.

– Semester 1 will now conclude on January 16, 2025 (moved from December 20, 2024).

– January 6 is becoming a student day, with January 17 a planning day for staff (non-student day)

– March 14 is a school day for students (previously a Professional Day)

– May 29 is a school day for students

Grading Period Adjustments:

– Grading Period 1: August 12 – October 25

– Grading Period 2: October 28 – January 16

– Grading Period 3: January 21 – March 28

– Grading Period 4: March 31 – May 29
