FEMA: After urging  from my office, the White House approved a Major Disaster Declaration for certain counties in Florida. Residents of Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties who were impacted by Helene are eligible to Apply for FEMA Individual Assistance.  Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov , or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the FEMA App .

INSURANCE: Flood damage is not usually covered by homeowners insurance. Do not make assumptions. Check your policy. If you are having issues with your insurance company, submit an insurance complaint to Consumer Services using this form .

SARASOTA: The following locations will be open Saturday through Monday, Sept. 28 – 30, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. or while supplies last:

  • 1000 Glebe Lane, Siesta Key
  • 100 S Casey Key Road, Nokomis
  • 326 Nokomis Ave S., Venice
  • 8570 Manasota Key Road, Englewood

CHARLOTTE: The following locations will be open on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. while supplies last:

  • Port Charlotte Town Center Mall, 1441 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte in Macy’s parking lot
  • Tringali Park Community Center, 3460 N. Access Rd., Englewood
  • South County Regional Park, 670 Cooper St., Punta Gorda
