The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is conducting an in-custody death investigation that occurred in the medical wing of the correctional facility early Saturday morning.

 

At approximately 6:24 am, Saturday morning, Kevin Mandujano Garcia (DOB 8/2/1990), of Sarasota, was found unresponsive and not breathing in a recovery pod of the facility’s medical wing. Corrections deputies notified medical staff and lifesaving measures were attempted, however he was pronounced deceased a short time later. No notable signs of trauma or injuries were noted and SCSO is awaiting the results of the autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s office.
