Sarasota: Local NFL Players Volunteer Encouraging Resilience

Truly Valued is a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping future leaders with the tools needed to make positive behavioral changes and achieve their full potential. This summer initiative aims to reduce juvenile crime by fostering teamwork, creating a collaborative environment, and promoting positive physical and mental well-being.
The coaching lineup includes:
– AFL players: Demond Sams and Ken Walton
– NFL players: Baraka Atkins, Dumaka Atkins, Mike Jenkins, Amarri Jackson, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Chris Hannon and Ace Sanders
– IFL player: Torry Johnson
“We are losing our children to violence,” says Demond Sams. “This is a start to rebuilding our community, one camp at a time.”
Ace Sanders expressed that “this camp will give kids in the community the same experience that I had growing up.”This initiative is made possible thanks to the generous support of Gulf Coast Community Foundation, Rays Baseball Foundation, Manatee Education Foundation and the City of Sarasota.
