SCSO Press Release

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) arrested a Venice High School teacher for engaging in sexual conduct with one of his students.

Jakob Riddick, DOB 08/21/2000, of 830 Oak Pond Dr., Osprey, was arrested on June 25 and charged with three felony charges. The charges include two counts of an authority figure soliciting/engaging in sexual conduct with a student and one charge of an authority figure soliciting/engaging in a romantic relationship with a student.

The investigation began when an administrator with Sarasota County Schools contacted the SCSO Special Victims Unit (SVU) to report an email received by the Venice High School Principal. The anonymous email detailed messages from a social media chat group that was investigated by SVU and traced to Riddick and the student.

Riddick remains in custody today on $75,000 bond per each of the three charges.

** Update ** The account is protected and the information is limited at this time. Probabily because of the students age. They only list the arraignment: CRIMINAL – ARRAIGNMENT FELONY SET FOR 08/09/2024 AT 9:00 AM IN 3A , JDG: PADAR, DONNA.

I believe Jakob Riddick is a teacher at Venice High. As you can see below, he was arrested on three counts of soliciting sex from a student.  It could be three students, it could be one three times.  I will know more once the Probable Cause Affidavit comes out later today.  I will post an update  on this page.
