The results of driving under the influence are dangerous, real, and life-altering. In 2022 Emily Talcott (33) was under the influence when she smashed into a vehicle on Salford Blvd. The crash resulted in the death of a 58-year-old man. He and his family’s lives are obviously changed forever.

The North Port Police Department vigorously used every tool to bring any type of justice in this case. With help from the State Attorney’s Office 12th Judicial Circuit, Ms. Talcott has just been sentenced to more than a decade in prison out of a maximum of 15 years. There are several other impacts including fines and a permanent driver’s license revocation.

We thank all of our investigators and behind-the-scenes personnel for following through. It truly takes a team. Our hearts go out to all whose lives have been altered due to this incident and anyone else who has been impacted by those driving under the influence. Please be smart and safe out there.
