Officials are sounding the alarm over a new so-called “zombie drug” 100 times more potent than xylazine. Medetomidine has been reported in nine states across the U.S. and is already causing a surge in overdose deaths. Addiction medicine specialist Dr. James Besante joins “NewsNation Now” to discuss the impact of the animal tranquilizer, saying while Narcan won’t have the same overdose reversal effect, it should still be used.
