Quick action, quick results, quick reunion. Late Monday night the North Port Police Department was made aware of a vehicle that may be traveling in our area involving a kidnapped two-year-old child out of Edgewater Florida. The child was reported to have been taken by his father Robert Renauld, in violation of a court order.
Within moments, NPPD Officers Bradley Greene and Christopher Kelley observed the vehicle on I-75. Other officers joined and a traffic stop was conducted. Both Renauld and the child were located in the vehicle. Sergeant David Brown secured the young boy safely.
Renauld was escorted to the Sarasota County Jail and charged with Kidnapping. The little man’s mother was notified and quickly reunited here in North Port. She was extremely grateful for the work involved in locating her son.
We too are proud of the work done by our officers to make sure this child was located and safely returned. This could have been a much different situation. Thank you to all the agencies involved including the City Of Edgewater Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol.
