*** Update ***
The five-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a residential pool in the 2500 block of 11th Avenue E. on Sunday afternoon passed away overnight after being removed from life support.
A family member discovered the child at approximately 4:40 p.m. Sunday and pulled her from the water. The family member and a neighbor performed CPR until EMS arrived and successfully revived the child. She was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
It appears the child wandered out of the home and fell in. The home security system alerted the homeowner a door had opened, prompting the family member to search for her.
The drowning appears accidental. The investigation is active and ongoing.
