Yvens Philone of Sarasota has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing firearms as a convicted felon and possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

This case was investigated by SCSO and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Asst. U.S. Attorney David P. Sullivan.

Court documents detailed that Philone sold 6 firearms, including one he described as a “Mac-10 machine gun,” to a confidential informant working with ATF and SCSO, between May 5 and 20, 2022. Philone also sold the informant nearly 60 grams of methamphetamine and 11 grams of fentanyl. Philone has a long list of previous felony convictions, including robbery, burglary, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. As a result of the prior convictions, he is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.
