Former North Port mustangs coach gets convicted on lewd and lascivious charges that carry a minimum of 25 years

Lewd or Lascivious Molestation carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison. A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.

The evidence at trial showed that the defendant used his position of trust to abuse multiple generations of the same family. As a former president of the North Port Mustangs Football and Cheer Organization, he inserted himself into this family by providing financial and emotional support, not just to the victims, but their parents as well. Once he established himself as a trusted member of the family, he slowly groomed the victims and tested their boundaries to see exactly how much he could get away with before they disclosed the abuse.

The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney, Jordan Greene, commented, “Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for child sexual abuse to span generations of the same family. This type of crime is an opportunistic one that is often kept under wraps. I am thankful for the courage of the victims that enabled them to speak out against their abuser. Thanks to that courage, this man will be held accountable for his actions.”
