Sarasota County offices closed for upcoming holiday

SARASOTA COUNTY – Most Sarasota County Government offices and services will be closed in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays Dec. 22-25, 2023 and Jan. 1, 2024.
Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County
- Offices will be closed Dec. 25, 26, 29 and Jan. 1 through Jan. 2, 2024.
UF/IFAS Extension in Sarasota County
- Offices will be closed Dec. 22 and 25 and Jan. 1, 2024.
Transit Schedule:
- Friday, Dec. 22: All Breeze services will operate regular hours.
- Saturday, Dec. 23: All Breeze services will operate regular hours.
- Sunday, Dec. 24: Breeze Transit administrative offices and ticket outlets will be closed. Standard routes and Breeze Plus will operate regular hours. Breeze Siesta Key and Breeze OnDemand will operate the modified hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Monday, Dec. 25: Breeze Transit administrative offices and ticket outlets will be closed. Standard routes and Breeze Plus will not be serviced. Breeze Siesta Key and Breeze OnDemand will operate regular hours.
- Sunday, Dec. 31: Standard routes and Breeze Plus will operate regular hours. Breeze Siesta Key and Breeze OnDemand will extend operations until 1 a.m.
- Monday, Jan. 1, 2024: Breeze Transit administrative offices and ticket outlets will be closed. Standard routes and Breeze Plus will not be serviced. Breeze Siesta Key and Breeze OnDemand will operate the modified hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Libraries and Historical Resources:
- All locations are closed Dec. 22-25 and Jan. 1.
Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources:
- Knight Trail Park pistol and rifle range will be open Friday, Dec. 22 and closed Saturday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Sunday, Dec. 31 through Tuesday, Jan, 2, 2024. The range will reopen to normal operations on Wednesday, Dec. 27 and Wednesday, Jan. 3.
- Recreation centers will be closed Friday, Dec. 22 through Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.
Solid Waste Collections:
All solid waste facilities, including the Central County Landfill, the Citizens’ Convenience Center and the Chemical Collection Centers will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1 for the holidays.
Curbside collection services for trash, recycling and yard waste will run as follows:
- Monday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 – no collection services
- All remaining collections delayed by one day due to the holiday
- Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Jan 2 – collection for Monday customers
- Wednesday, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3 – collection for Tuesday customers
- Thursday, Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 – collection for Wednesday customers
- Friday, Dec. 29 and Jan. 5 – collection for Thursday customers
- Saturday, Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 – collection for Friday customers
Because collection times vary, residents should place materials at the curb by 6 a.m. the day of pickup.
The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, the admin office and The Re-Uz-It Shop at 8750 Bee Ridge Road will be closed Dec. 22-25 and Jan. 1.
The Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center remains closed due to impacts from Hurricane Ian.
The Citizens’ Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be open on Saturday, Dec. 23 between 8 a.m.-2 p.m., but will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1.
The Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be open on Saturday, Dec. 23 between 8 a.m.-2 p.m., but will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1.
The landfill and Citizens’ Convenience Center will remain open until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 due to the holiday collection schedule, however the Construction and Demolition (C&D) area will close at 2 p.m. All hand unloads must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing.
The admin office at the Central County Landfill will be closed Dec. 22-25 and Jan. 1.
