GRAND THEFT, FRAUD & THEFT: On Nov. 2, Venice Police Special Investigations detectives traveled to Boca Raton, Fla., with an arrest warrant to apprehend Jorge Arturo Valero with the assistance of the Boca Raton Police Services Department.  Detectives learned Valero is responsible for over $500,000 in fraudulent charges in more than 30 different states.

VPD detectives began an investigation on Sept. 21, following a report of purse theft at the TJMaxx on U.S. 41 Bypass. The victim, whose purse was stolen while shopping, also found that her credit card was fraudulently used multiple times in Sarasota, Fla., on the same day. Investigators identified a male suspect, Valero, who used multiple aliases and had been committing similar crimes in other states since 2011. Valero was booked by VPD and Boca Raton Police into the Palm Beach County Jail and is awaiting extradition from various states as his identity is being revealed.

If you feel you’ve been a victim of fraud, call the VPD non-emergency line at 941-486-2444.
