An in-depth geotechnical evaluation is set to begin Monday, Nov. 6, on the Warm Mineral Springs Park parcel in conjunction with the public-private partnership (P3) proposal.
During this process, the park will remain open to all patrons with no changes in operating hours. The work is expected to continue until early 2024.
Ardaman and Associates, a third-party vendor, are conducting the geotechnical work, which will determine how the soil will react to possible changes. This includes ground-penetrating radar, microgravity testing and soil borings.
Prior to beginning this work, the City hired a third-party vendor to conduct a threatened and endangered species survey in the area in June 2023. No scrub jays and very little, if any, scrub habitat was found. The work is being coordinated around gopher tortoise areas and will avoid protected plants.
To alert patrons of the potential dangers associated with this work, no trespassing signs have been placed along the perimeter of the unimproved acreage. For more information about Warm Mineral Springs Park, visit NorthPortFL.gov/WMSP.
