Sarasota County issues an advisory after an individual contracts the West Nile Virus

Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County is issuing a mosquito-borne illness advisory for Sarasota County due to a single confirmed human case of West Nile Virus. The case occurred in early September and has already been treated. DOH-Sarasota reminds community members to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and to take basic precautions to help limit exposure.
