A Port Charlotte man was arrested on Friday and charged with more than 20 counts related to child pornography.
Charlotte County detectives along with members of the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, were made aware of the potential illicit material through cyber-tips, which led to the investigation of Matthew Cade (12/09/94) of 23195 Delavan Ave., Port Charlotte, FL. On October 12, detectives met with Cade at his residence. Cade agreed to speak with the detectives, and admitted to viewing and downloading pornographic content of children for over two years. Following this confession, a laptop and cellphone belonging to Cade were seized for forensic examination.
“I commend my detectives and the Task Force for their quick actions and I appreciate their professionalism in spite of the awful things they endured in securing this evidence. When it comes to the abuse of children, or the people who enjoy watching that abuse, I want it to be crystal clear that it will not be tolerated here in Charlotte County.”
SHERIFF BILL PRUMMELL
The forensic examination of the devices took place on October 13, 2023. As a result, detectives located approximately 1,000 videos which depicted child pornography on the cellphone belonging to Cade. The age range of the children included infants through approximately eight years old.
Following this, Matthew Cade was arrested and is being held at the Charlotte County Jail on a total bond of $770,000.
