Venice:  Titan Concrete engulfed in flames overnight

Around 2:45 a.m. today, Venice, Nokomis and Sarasota County fire departments were called out to Titan Concrete on Gene Green Road in northeast Venice. Firefighters found a large steel building at the concrete plant engulfed in flames. This warehouse was used to house heavy equipment and supplies. No one was inside.

 

The blaze has been extinguished and crews are still on scene for mop-up. There are no hazmat concerns.

 

The cause of the blaze is undetermined at this time. The state fire marshal, local fire marshal and VPD are on scene. Officials do not believe this structure fire is connected to the beach area brush fires that occurred over the Labor Day weekend.
