Francesco Abbruzzino, The Uncensored Report, LLC
Sarasota County: On Monday afternoon, #SRQCountyUtilities staff responded to a call of a possible water main break on Fruitville Road, 1200 feet east of Cowpen Lane. They discovered the break was an 8-inch sanitary sewer force main, hit by a contractor collecting soil core samples. The break was isolated to stop the spill, while spill recovery and repairs were performed. Approximately 10,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into the adjacent swale and stormwater canal, and approximately 7,900 gallons were recovered from the site. Cleanup and notifications are proceeding per protocol. Surface waters were impacted, and sampling has begun.
