NORTH PORT, FL –  The North Port Police Department is currently investigating the homicide of two individuals in the 1200 block of Malicoat Road. Shortly before midnight on August 31, 2023, officers were called in reference to a disturbance.

Upon officer’s arrival, a white male was observed entering a vehicle registered to 21-year-old Dima Tower. A pursuit was initiated. The vehicle ultimately fled north on I-75 where it was forced to a stop at mile marker 192 (unincorporated Venice). It is believed that Tower was the operator who exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby woods, he is currently being sought after in the area. The search is being conducted by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with NPPD.

The suspect and the victims are familiar with each other.

Tower was last seen wearing black shorts and a sleeveless black and white t-shirt and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

I am current on-scene at the intersection of Malicoat Road and Harbell Street.

You can contact Sarasota County’s media office in reference to the search at (941) 861-4927.
