More deputies to patrol Legacy Trail in Sarasota – WTSP

The Sheriff’s Office is on the trail…the Legacy Trail.
SCSO is routinely responding to calls for service on or near the trail.
The primary safety concerns:
Vehicle versus pedestrian or bicycle crashes occurring within the crosswalk Homeless camps A variety of other miscellaneous crimes are reported on the trail or trailhead parking lots
To enhance safety and promote education in and around the Legacy Trail Park, our Traffic/Motors, Mounted Patrol, and HOT/Crime Prevention Units are increasing patrol all week. Deputies will use analytical crime and traffic data to focus on designated areas for enforcement and public education efforts.
Mounted Patrol will focus on high visibility education and enforcement in the Nokomis area today. Yesterday Mounted Patrol worked the area of the Legacy Trail North of Webber St. and made
