Urgent Announcement: Venice Police Department Falls Victim to a Crime

The Venice Police Department has been targeted by a crime, a sobering reminder that nobody is exempt from criminal acts.

On June 24th, 2023 at approximately 12:03 p.m., David F. Jameson (DOB: 11/06/1958) arrived at the front of the Venice Police Department riding a bicycle. Jameson was captured on video walking around the front of the Police Department before inspecting a package left on the front doorstep by FedEx. Jameson subsequently opened the box and stole 2 items, before riding away on his bicycle.

Due to having prior convictions for Petit Theft, Jameson was charged with Petit Theft Third or Subsequent offense, which is a felony.

A warrant was obtained for his arrest and he was arrested today with assistance from the Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
