Fire breaks out at the Sarasota County jail early this morning

Sarasota County jail had an early morning fire that injured one person today. The fire occurred near the kitchen on the first floor around 7 this morning. The fire Battalion Chief attributes the sprinkler system for keeping the fire under control.
An evacuation of the jail did not take place because the staff felt that the fire was under control and did not endanger any of the staff or prisoners.
At this point the cause of the fire is not known.
