Venice Library allegedly allows a creepy old man to view porn in the presence of kids, until a concerned mother took action

I want to be anonymous, but I had to call the police because an old man at the Venice library on the island and he was viewing obscene materials in the presence of children and staff, and the library staff did not remove him or enforce any protocol.

The police stated that the manager admitted that this is the second time this man has done this. The library staff did nothing, even though they were aware of his activity with the computer.  It takes a mom to call the police and protect the children because the library made no effort to remove him.

He was doing this next to a little boy and the mom had no idea. Unfortunately, my child saw it and I took action, calling the police. It’s summer and kids are all over this library.

The Venice Police saw the porn, removed him, and trespassed him for a year from all Sarasota County Libraries.  However, it took me acting and doing something about it, since the library wouldn’t!

** Update **

Can you post my comment anonymously on the library post about the man looking at porn sites ——

As an ex employee of the library for many years I can say this is not the SECOND time he has been caught doing this and the manager has declined and refused to trespass him on many occasions. I’ve personally asked him to leave and my manager would tell him otherwise. I completely agree that someone needs to be held accountable for this and stop holding the hands of older people when they make teens leave for having food and drinks in the teen room. Completely ignorant. I’m glad to see he isn’t allowed in there anymore!!!

Hey Frank, hope all is well.

I saw your article about the incident at the William H. Jervey, Jr. and want to thank you for bringing attention to the situation.

Staff asked me to let you know that as soon as they were alerted, the individual in this situation was trespassed. The staff does their best to monitor activities in the library. And staff are very grateful to members of the community who let then know when county policies are not being followed so it can be addressed quickly.

Thank you again,
