The North Port Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a local gas station Thursday night.
 

Shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, a male suspect wearing all black with a black face mask and gloves entered the Marathon Gas Station in the 14000 block of Tamiami Trail. The suspect demanded money and threatened employees of the establishment with what appeared to be a handgun in his pocket. An undisclosed amount of cash was handed over and the suspect fled on foot without further incident.
 

Officers arrived within minutes of the 911 call. A canvassing of the area was conducted by ground and air. Detectives have been working to gather evidence, information and leads. At this time the suspect is a male of an undetermined race, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall to 5 feet, 11 inches tall.
