CITY OF NORTH PORT, FL – The results from the independent Warm Mineral Springs Park survey have been received and are available online at NorthPortFL.gov/WMSPsurvey. A total of 959 residents participated from randomly selected households to provide their feedback, a sampling which is representative of City residents and gives the results a margin of error of +/- 3.1%. An additional 666 people took the online survey that was open to everyone.

ETC Institute, the vendor that conducted the survey, is scheduled to present survey results and key findings at the July 10, 2023, City Commission Workshop.

Most survey respondents agree with North Port investing in the restoration and improvement of Warm Mineral Springs Park and do not want to see the City sell or transfer any portion of it. Respondents are most interested in passive/current uses continuing at the park, with 92% in support of low intensity development. The top three commercial amenities respondents would most like to see includes wellness services, a spa and/or restaurant.

“We are pleased so many of our residents took the time to participate in this process and share their feedback,” said City Manager Jerome Fletcher. “We have heard you and look forward to continuing the conversation about how to bring these results to life at our planned community workshops.”

Community workshops

With the independent survey analysis completed, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation will be hosting a series of community workshops, facilitated by Dr. David Brain from New College of Florida. The workshops will give attendees the opportunity to review the survey results and dive deeper into the types of amenities they would like to see restored or added to the park, as well as a chance to give feedback on how Warm Mineral Springs Park revenues can be used to fund these initiatives. Dates and times for the workshops are to be determined. To be notified once the schedule is available, sign up for email alerts at NorthPortFL.gov/WMSPsurvey.

Public survey process

The City engaged ETC Institute to independently conduct this survey as part of the public feedback portion of the process while exploring a potential public private partnership (P3) for Warm Mineral Springs Park.  ETC collected and compiled the data, analyzed it, and provided a written report of the general public and statistically valid findings to ensure the City understands the community’s needs and desires. ETC Institute is a national leader in market research for local governmental organizations.
