Wanted man arrested in Sarasota, ending standoff

The Sarasota Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service have arrested 24-year-old Dorian Brooks. Both agencies responded to a residence in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Road, Sarasota, around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Brooks was arrested around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Brooks was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including a warrant for first-degree murder out of Bradenton.
On January 23, 2023, multiple suspects arrived at a residence in the 100 block of 10th Avenue W., Bradenton, to commit an armed robbery. During the robbery, the suspects shot more than 60 times, striking three victims. One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, died from his injuries on January 31.
Brooks was inside of a friend’s residence for more than 10 hours. He was in the attic when officers were able to apprehend him. There are no injuries involved with this incident, which is still under investigation. There will not be any more updates tonight.
