NPPD Update:
A second arrest has been made in connection to the Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault in the 5200 block of South Biscayne Boulevard this past weekend. 28-year-old Jalexus Shrell Jenkins is being charged with the same crimes as previously arrested 21-year-old Cly’etavia Ashonna Lee. Jenkins acted as the getaway driver. Both are from Sarasota.
“This case is the culmination of hard work by our detectives and staff. We are thankful these individuals are being held accountable. Do not come to North Port thinking you will rip off our community. We will find you,” says North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison.

Be careful with who you meet online to conduct transactions in person. 21-year-old Cly’etavia Ashonna Lee of Sarasota was arrested on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and using a phone to facilitate a felony.
This past weekend, Lee met two different victims in the 5200 block of South Biscayne Boulevard who met there to purchase a vehicle, after posting on Facebook Marketplace. Once the victims arrived, Lee held them up at gunpoint. Lee took thousands in cash, including credit cards. Lee later attempted to use the credit cards at various locations.
After a thorough investigation, Lee was arrested in Sarasota Tuesday night, thanks to help from the Sarasota Police Department.
While incidents such as this are rare, this is a reminder for folks to be cautious about conducting transactions with those they do not know. Thankfully, this case was solved with the help of video evidence. Please conduct these types of transactions in well-lit, video-monitored locations. In addition, NPPD has an e-commerce area in front of our Police Department for a safer transaction location.
