North Port: Athletic field closures for annual maintenance renovations

NORTH PORT, FL – To improve playability and support player safety, the North Port Parks & Recreation Department will implement several field closures this summer to accommodate various maintenance renovation projects from May 1 – June 30, 2023. Please remember to stay off the fields when they are scheduled to close or have signage posted, even if there is no obvious work being completed. Several of the projects scheduled require ‘field rest’ to be effective, so even if it looks like staff aren’t present – the fields are getting exactly what they need.
Weather permitting, the projects listed below are anticipated to be completed during these field closures:
- May 1 – June 30– All Butler Fields closed for renovation and sodding
- May 15 – June 30– Larry Thoennissen Field one closed for maintenance
- May 15 – May 26 – Larry Thoennissen Field two closed for maintenance
