NORTH PORT – Two more people are behind bars after being charged in connection with a 2021 homicide. Kayla Seylhouwer, 18, of North Port and Kenneth Seylhouwer, 40, also of North Port, were arrested earlier this week. Kenneth was charged with tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact and is being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $300,000 bond. Kayla is charged with accessory after the fact and was arrested by Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in Charlotte County on the NPPD warrant. Kayla’s booking photo was not available via CCSO as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.
On June 18, 2021, NPPD was dispatched to a reported shooting near the intersection of S. Biscayne Blvd. and Porto Chico Ave. The injured victim eventually succumbed to their injuries. Five individuals were arrested soon after the crime for 2nd Degree Murder (Principal).
“I’m proud of the detectives in our Investigations Division for bringing two more people to justice in this sad and senseless case,” North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison said. “No matter how long it takes, we will seek you out, arrest you and deliver you to jail.”
If you choose to commit a crime in North Port, NPPD will find you. This is a sad situation with many young lives affected. While we are heartbroken for the victim and their family, we are glad to put these two behind bars and serve some justice.
