Ringling Boulevard between Pineapple and Lime avenues has been reimagined to offer more multimodal opportunities and enhanced, safe connectivity for bicyclists.
New features include:
Green paint on the bicycle lane to alert bicyclists they are approaching an intersection or possible conflict point and remind drivers to remain in their travel lane
4-foot tall flexible delineators and 6-foot green concrete wheel stops to prevent drivers from entering the bicycle lane
Many cyclists already are peddling the new lanes and safely connecting between downtown and The Legacy Trail.
We encourage everyone to be alert and cautious as drivers and bicyclists adjust to the new traffic patterns. Watch for pavement markings, street signs and….stay in your lane.
Other important reminders:
Bicyclists in a bike lane or road are considered a vehicle and must obey all traffic laws including stopping at red lights, yielding at yield signs and for pedestrians
Bicyclists should slow down when entering an intersection even when they have the right-of-way
Drivers should be alert at intersections and yield to pedestrians and bicyclists
