Allegations of inappropriate behavior by a coach at VHS towards female students

Francesco Abbruzzino, The Uncensored Report, LLC

** Update ** My contact has communicated to me that another alleged victim came forward due to my posting. However, the parent does not want to press charges. The individual has heard that three other alleged victims came forward, but it can not be confirmed. So, I was asked to share this again, in case there are others out there.

I was contacted by anonymous and asked to pull a police report from the VPD.  I was provided some information, but I was left with a lot of questions.  I pulled the report, and it details some allegations against a VHS football coach Ryals.  The allegations are being made by female teenagers that graduated this year from VHS.

Some are allegations, with others there is evidence.  All of what I am writing about can be found in the police report 22-1166, which is public record and can be found by clicking — >>> here.

Let’s start with what the VPD deemed to be inappropriate texting between the teenagers and coach.  Text that was validated by the VPD and put into evidence.  The officer found multiple inappropriate text between the coach and teenagers that were 16-17 at the time.  The teens would call the coach daddy and he would refer to them as daughters.  The police report does not cover a lot of specifics, but the coach would ask for pictures and tell the kids how beautiful they were.

The other issue revolved around the coach allegedly touching them inappropriately, by touching their buttocks.  He would allegedly ask them to come out and wrestle him at the high school and to bring a change of clothes.  One victim alleged that he would ask her not to wear sports bras and spandex around the football players, but would like her to wear them and wrestle hm.  One of the victims went into more detail on the police report.  Neither student went to the school nor wrestled the coach.  A lot more occurred with the allegations that the coach would hug one of the victims behind closed doors, pick her up over his shoulder and rub her butt, go in through the back of her pants and pull her underwear, and some other actions.  All of this is detailed out in the police report.

The VPD were contacted by the School Board Police about the allegations against the coach.  The VPD concluded that lewd and lascivious molestation charges did not apply because the teens were 16-17 when the incidents occurred.  The charges of battery were investigated and not acted upon because the evidence was circumstantial.  The VPD did meet with the principal; they explained the inappropriate conduct between the coach and students.  Also, they showed the principal the inappropriate text between the coach and students.  The principal stated that immediate action would be taken.

I reached out to my source and the individual states that there is an ongoing investigation, and they are looking for other victims.  I have been told that coach Ryals has been removed from the school and is not allowed to attend football games at VHs or travel games.  I was going to hold off putting the coaches name out there, but since the inappropriate text were verified and the principal thought his actions were severe enough to take him off the job without pay, I decided to include his name in the article.  Also, it is public record, and his name is listed throughout the police report, so it is not a well kept secret.  It is my understanding that many individuals are aware of the allegations.

From what I can see, the VPD could only validate the inappropriate text and not the other actions, which are alleged by the victims.  The consistency of stories between the victims is concerning and that is why they are seeking other victims either at VHS or Sarasota, where he worked prior to coming over to VHS.  The concern is that there may be other victims, since several female teens have been around the coach on a regular basis and may have been in similar situations, which has been alleged.

If you would like to talk to the VPD about any concerns regarding your child and the coach, please contact them with police report 22-1166.
