Venice Municipal Airport — Hurricane Ian Recovery Update:
• A comprehensive damage assessment by the City’s insurance team, including a structural engineering inspection, has been ongoing for each impacted hangar building at the Airport.
• On Thursday, the City received structural engineering reports on the hangar buildings.
• Today (Friday), Airport staff reviewed the engineering reports and compared them to field observations, and reopened 10 of the 14 hangar buildings.
• Seven units of one 10-unit hangar building were destroyed in the storm. The structure was deemed a total loss and demolished.
• Remaining unsafe structures will require additional stabilization before safe access can be granted.
Airport staff are working with the City’s insurance team to make all hangars safe and accessible to tenants as soon as possible.
