City of Venice debris collection UPDATE 10/10
Francesco Abbruzzino, The Uncensored Report, LLC
COV City Manager
I couple people have asked me about the debris pickup within the City of Venice. Here is the latest update straight from the desk of the City Manager.
We just spoke with the debris hauler to get an update. Following is information provided to us:
· For purposes of debris removal, the City has been divided into five geographical zones
· Zones 1 and 2 constitute Venice Island. Zone 3 progresses east from the intra-coastal waterway to Pinebrook Road and north to Laurel Road . Zone 4 continues east to Auburn Road and north to I-75. Zone 5 includes the area east of I-75 and north of Laurel Road
· Debris collection started on the island, where there appeared to be substantial debris accumulation; where there are currently four trucks collecting debris
· Additional trucks are being added as the process expands into Zone 3
· Although too early to accurately forecast the time line for completion, the estimate to complete a “first pass” for all public roads is 40 days. Later the trucks will return and refine the debris pick up
· The City is requesting authority from FEMA to include the private roads, typically located in gated communities, as part of the clean-up progress. FEMA did grant approval for private road debris removal for Hurricane Irma
