Ducks in the pond!
The City of Sarasota is carrying on a unique tradition, started by retired City employee Kathy King, to raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness during the month of October.
At Monday’s City Commission Meeting, Kathy collected donations for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Donors had the option to choose a pink duck, which can be personalized to honor a friend or loved one, that will float in the Ken Thompson Memorial Reflecting Pool in City Hall throughout the month as a hopeful reminder of those who have been affected by the disease.
Interested in participating? Pink ducks are still available through the end of this week and can be purchased at the City Manager’s office for any donation amount. Call (941) 263-6321 for more information.
