Sarasota Police Department Dive Team Places Third in Inaugural First Responder Dive Team Challenge

The Sarasota Police Department placed third in overall team competition in the inaugural First Responder Dive Team Challenge hosted by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend.  One member of the Sarasota Police Department Dive Team was awarded “Top Frog” for his individual performance.

 

The event was held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Florida SouthWestern State College in Punta Gorda.  The Sarasota Police Department competed against eight other law enforcement and fire/EMS teams from throughout Florida.  The event tested various skills from navigation underwater to assembling equipment as a team in visibility that was limited and weather that was difficult to navigate.

 

Teams from Charlotte County Fire/EMS, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, FWC Southwest Region, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, North Collier Fire/EMS, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office competed.  All proceeds from the event benefit the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
