Incident Description
Public Utilities crews responded to a call at Center Road and Wood Bridge Dr in Venice regarding water flowing out of the ground. Investigation revealed that a vehicle had left the roadway, struck an ARV on the shoulder of the road, and was leaking sewage. The staff was able to isolate the ARV, stopping the discharge. Approximately 10,000 gallons of sewage flowed mostly onto the adjacent pavement and made its way into a nearby stormwater structure. We traced the stormwater collection system and verified no bodies of water were affected. Approximately 10,000 gallons of wastewater mixed with stormwater was recovered from the stormwater structure. The roadway was washed down using the vacuum truck. Clean-up and notifications are proceeding according to protocol. No spill samples are necessary.
