Ron Feinsod has gone on record that he will not run again for Mayor of Venice and yes, I have an appointment to drop paper to run for Mayor next week

Well, the cat is out of the bag.

 

When Nick Pachotta called me several months ago and said he was running for Mayor, I wished him luck.  Also, I told him that if Ron did not run, I would jump into the mayor race.  I am a firm believer that the mayor race should not go unopposed.  I think the fine citizens of Venice should have a choice, versus the candidate that local cabal that believes they run Venice chooses for us.  Also, even though I am friends with Nick, we do differ on issues from development to LDR issues.

 

Today my phone was ringing off the hook from individuals involved in local politics, along with a local paper.  I am in Cleveland on business and could not understand why my phone and text were blowing up on me.  The news was that Ron Feinsod has confirmed with the Herald that he is not seeking re-election and will not be running.  You can read about Ron’s decision via the Herald by clicking — >>> here.  
Also, word has gotten out that I have an appointment with city of Venice on Wednesday to file my paper work to run for Mayor.  I did this in case Ron decided not to run, there would be a viable candidate to challenge Nick, versus him walking into office unopposed.

 

So, yes, I have set up an appointment to file paper work on Wednesday at 2pm, next week.  With Ron deciding not to run, I will follow through with my commitment unless the Democratic Party puts forth a candidate.  Nick and I are both Republicans.  I do not want to be considered the spoiler again, getting in the way of the Democratic and Republican that view themselves as the parties choice to run.

 

It will not be easy since Nick has the money coming in and I have always ran campaigns taking in minimal contributions.    He has been working it for a few months and has a huge head start.  So, I will be fighting an uphill battle against the machine that has been actively working to get Nick elected as Mayor.  Especially since I ten to shy away from donations.  I would rather see a family have a good night out with their money, versus giving it to me for signage.  Call me crazy.  🙂  I will need all the luck I can put together.

 

If I file my paper work to run this Wednesday, I will post about it on my page.  Again, I have only setup the appointment and I was waiting to see if Ron was going to run, which he is not according to the Herald.  For now I am enjoying the weekend in Cleveland attending a Browns football and Guardians baseball game with my daughter.
