Video: Fauci Claims He Never Pushed For Lockdowns — Receipts From 2020 Show Otherwise

White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed Monday that he never recommended for nationwide lockdowns, which contradict remarks he made in 2020.

When asked on The Hill’s “Rising” whether he would still recommend shutting down schools and businesses given the known negative effects they’ve had, Fauci denied ever pushing for lockdowns.

“First of all, I didn’t recommend locking anything down…you’re talking about, the CDC is the public health agency that uses their epidemiologists and their science-based approach to make recommendations,” Fauci said.

“Clearly, whenever you close schools, there are collateral effects that are negative. I have always been well aware of that.”

But in October 2020, Fauci had no problem recommending widespread lockdowns.

“I recommended to the president that we shut the country down,” Fauci had said, citing “community spread” that had not yet “exploded.”

“That was a difficult decision because I knew it would have serious economic consequences, which it did,” he said, adding that the lockdowns didn’t mitigate the spread of COVID because they supposedly weren’t harsh enough.

“And unfortunately, since we actually did not shut down completely the way China did, the way Korea did, the way Taiwan did, we actually did see spread even though we shut down.”

Fauci’s backtracking is indicative of the monumental failure lockdowns were, as they did nothing to prevent the spread of COVID, and in fact devastated the economy, children’s development, and the public’s mental and physical health.
