Venice Fire Rescue was dispatched to a drowning at 1782 Kilruss Dr. Sunday night (7/10) just before 6:30 p.m. While en route to the call, dispatch advised the patient was a 2-year-old female who was found submerged in the pool and that CPR had been initiated by the father. Battalion 5 requested the response of Bayflite for air transportation. Upon arrival of Venice Fire and Venice Police, an AED was applied and CPR was continued. Venice paramedics performed Advanced Life Support services in the back of the rescue while Battalion 5 established a landing zone inside the Waterford community for patient transfer. Upon arrival of the Bayflite helicopter, the patient was transferred and flown to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg for further treatment. The Venice Police Department is currently investigating the scene.
