I am not sure if this is the swing in question. It is one of a couple that were donated to the city. Photo: COV

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will follow up with our City Manager. I agree that dedication to city property endorsing a religious group seems very wrong.

Mayor Ron Feinsod

Hi Ron,
I am writing to ask if it is legal to have Christian themed swings on public parks in Venice. I was taking a walk and sat down on the lovely swing near the large banyan tree in the center park along West Venice Avenue. The swing had some plaque saying something like it was Christian and dedicated to all that follow Him.  I am not a Christian, although I have many friends who identify as Christians.  I also have many Jewish, Buddhist, Atheist, and Hindu friends.   I feel that this display in the public space this is insensitive and maybe illegal.

What’s the story?  Could I install a swing dedicated to the Festivus for the rest of us?Thanks!Marsha Sent from my iPhone
