Sarasota Police Officers Honored at 2022 Congressional Law Enforcement Award Ceremony

Several members of the Sarasota Police Department were honored Thursday night during Congressman Vern Buchanan’s 16th District Congressional Law Enforcement Awards at the Manatee County Judicial Center in Bradenton. Each Sarasota Police officer who received an award will be part of the Congressional Record.
Detective Lake received the Gary Tibbetts Career Service Award. Officers Bearden, Bentz, Collins, Crenshaw, Dederick, Gonzalez, Lynn, Spencer, and Officer Urbain received the Preservation of Life Award. Sergeants Carter and Misiewicz, Officers Bernier, Bieker, Chapman, Dederick, Gonzalez, Gonzalez, Laquidara, Lynn, Modrow, Osinga, Schanley, Stevens, Urbain, Worthington, and Officer Varlaro received the Unit Citation Award.
Congressman Buchanan established the 16th District Congressional Law Enforcement Awards to give special recognition to law enforcement officers, departments, or units for exceptional achievement. Award winners are chosen by an independent panel comprised of current and retired law enforcement personnel representing a cross-section of the district’s law enforcement community.
Congratulations to additional area local law enforcement agencies including the Bradenton Police Department, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Holmes Beach Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, and Palmetto Police Department.
