Incident Description
Early this morning, County Utility crews responded to a call for sewage coming from a manhole at the previous location. Upon investigation, Utility staff discovered that the sanitary sewer line in front of 5338 Crestlake Boulevard was still experiencing surcharge issues resulting in a second spill. Approximately 1,000 gallons of raw wastewater overflowed onto the pavement and into a nearby stormwater structure, ultimately making its way into a nearby pond. County vacuum truck staff cleaned and inspected the sewer line via camera and discovered that large amounts of sediment had built up obstructing flow. The most likely source of the sediment was from the damaged sanitary sewer pipe further upstream that was the initial reason for establishing bypass pumping. Operations staff have thoroughly cleaned the lines and have the system functioning as intended. Approximately 500 gallons of sewage were recovered. Notifications and water sampling are proceeding per protocol.
