Sarasota County installs speed bumps along Ocean Boulevard

Today, May 11, #SRQCountyPublicWorks staff installed speed cushions/bumps along Ocean Boulevard, just east of Hour Glass Way on Siesta Key. Motorists will also see new roadway signage for traffic calming near roadside parking areas, warning of the new speed cushions.

Speed cushions are a series of small speed humps installed across the width of the road and are designed to be wide enough to slow cars while narrow enough for emergency vehicles to straddle. Speed cushions are designed to slow cars to between 15-20 mph and are an innovative solution that can help slow speeders without slowing emergency vehicles. #SRQCounty
